Honey Seared Garlic Shrimp Skillet

Fast, easy and DELICIOUS - in one skillet!!

So here we have a super simple honey garlic shrimp recipe, all done in the comfort of your skillet. It’s yummy, it’s healthy and oh so easy to make.
When I say super easy, I mean five ingredient easy and less than 15 minutes cooking time easy. Shrimp cooks so quickly, it’s such a great fast fix for any meal of the day.
I used jumbo peeled shrimp with tail on for these. They just tend to look better in pics. But you can use whatever kind of shrimp you like or can easily get your hands on.
We begin by making your honey garlic sauce which is basically just some honey, soy sauce, ginger and garlic. Tada! I wasn’t lying when I said simple.                                   Make the sauce and divide it into half. Half for the marinade and half for the drizzle. While the ingredients are simple, the fun is in the execution.                                                         I said shrimp cooks quickly so you’ll want to get your pan nice and hot before cooking so they have a gorgeous sear.                                                                                             The honey will caramelize a little and stuff will get stuck to the bottom of the pan. Use your tongs to gently rub the shrimp on the stuck on bits to get it nice and blackened and yummy. One minute per side and your shrimp is cooked! I did this in two batches. Then you remove the pan from heat and you’re ready to serve these babies drizzled with the leftover sauce.
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined with tail on
Sauce:
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • INSTRUCTIONS
    1. Combine the sauce ingredients and divide it into half
    2. Marinate the shrimp with one half of the sauce for 15-30 minutes. Discard marinade
    3. Over medium high heat in a 10" skillet, pan sear the shrimp in some oil. Sear them on both sides in two batches until browned, about 1 minute per side
    4. Using tongs, rub the shrimp into the caramelized bits on the bottom of the pan
    5. Dish and serve hot drizzled with the remaining sauce
    NOTES
For even more flavor, try adding in some red pepper flakes for heat or fresh lime juice for zest!

Or if you like cilantro, lime and red pepper flakes, try out this variation of cilantro lime honey garlic shrimp skillet!

This recipe sears better in a cast iron pan and may not perform as well with caramelized bits in non-stick pans.

Honey Garlic Meatballs - easy to make and so good!

You will need:
  • 2 lbs extra-lean ground beef
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder  (I use 2 tsp Garlic Plus instead of the garlic salt and powder)
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
Preheat your oven to 375ºF. I love to make meatballs, don’t let them intimidate you, and you can see my favourite way to make them here. I use the same recipe for all my meatballs and just tweak the flavours a bit. Mix your ground beef, oatmeal, eggs, milk and garlic seasonings together. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place meatballs on it and cook for about 35-40 minutes or until no longer pink in the middle.
While the meatballs are cooking you can make the sauce. I keep it really simple and just tweaked my honey garlic BBQ sauce a bit for these meatballs. Place all the sauce ingredients: pressed garlic cloves, ketchup, honey and soy sauce—in a large sauce pan and heat through. Add meatballs to sauce, toss and serve!

Peanut Butter Honey Rice Crispy Treats

An easy treat to make with your kids (or just for yourself)  - no marshmallows needed!

To make these cereal bars, skip the marshmallow and grease.  You'll need just a few ingredients:  Affiliate links are included in this post for your convenience.
1/2 cup Lynch Family Farm Honey
1/2 cup any creamy peanut butter
4 cups Rice Crispies cereal (or any toasted rice cereal would work)

Mix together: 1/2 cup honey and 1/2 cup peanut butter.  Pour these together in a saucepan.  Heat on the stovetop and continue stirring until the mixture begins to boil.

Remove from heat and pour over 4 cups of cereal
.  Mix together until the cereal is coated with the peanut butter/honey mixture.
Line a 9x9 inch casserole dish with parchment paper.  We have used wax paper in a pinch.  Pour the cereal into the casserole dish.

Use another piece of parchment paper to firmly press down the cereal.  You will want to press down pretty hard so that the cereal bars are not crumbly.

Allow the cereal treats to harden for several hours.  Pop them right out onto a cutting board in one big piece.  Using the parchment paper made this so easy.  Use a sharp knife to cut the rice crispy cereal treat squares.

Baked Honey Cajun Shrimp (or fish!) in just 3 steps

You can use any fish filet with this recipe,

or stick with the original - shrimp!

This baked honey cajun shrimp recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to feed a larger crowd. It’s so simple to put together and tastes amazing. Serves 4 for Dinner or 8 as an appetizer. The shrimp taste wonderful over mashed potatoes, pasta or white rice. It’s not fiery hot by any means but if you want it to be a little more kid-friendly, you might consider cutting the cajun seasoning in half.
Ingredients for Baked Shrimp:1 lb large shrimp (21-26 count), peeled & deveined
2 Tbsp fresh lemon Juice (juice of 1 small or 1/2 large lemon)
1/4 cup extra light olive oil (not extra virgin)
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp cajun seasoning
1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Garnish:1/2 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1/2 tsp grated lemon zest
How to Make Baked Honey Cajun Shrimp:1. In a medium bowl, whisk together: juice of 1 lemon, 1/4 cup olive oil, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp honey, 1 Tbsp Cajun seasoning and 1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley. Add 1 lb shrimp and stir well to coat. (P.S. I left the shrimp tails on only because I love the look of them – it’s more practical to remove them). Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the fridge for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
2. In a small bowl, stir together 1/2 Tbsp chopped parsley with 1/2 tsp grated lemon zest – cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
3. Preheat Oven to 450˚F. Transfer shrimp to a baking dish large enough to hold shrimp in a single layer. Bake uncovered until firm (8-10 minutes). Don’t over-bake or shrimp can become rubbery. P.S. The sauce left in the pan makes for an excellent bread dip :).
